A sagging or furrowed brow, along with horizontal forehead wrinkles, can communicate that you’re angry, tired, or sad even when you feel rested and content.

Board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Michelle Spring and Dr. Michael Hromadka perform brow lift surgery in Kalispell to restore a refreshed, more youthful appearance for patients from Whitefish and Great Falls, Montana; Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint, Idaho; and throughout the Northwest.

What Happens During a Brow Lift?

Our surgeons perform brow lift surgery using two different approaches. They’ll discuss these options with you during the consultation and create a customized surgical plan based on your specific concerns and cosmetic goals.

Direct Brow Lift

A direct brow lift involves making an incision along the top edge of the brow, giving the surgeon the ability to alter the underlying with precision and remove excess skin. The technique is especially useful for patients with deep brow furrows or creases and can be used to minimize sagging. The procedure elevates the brow to a more youthful position.

Coronal Brow Lift

This is considered the traditional brow lift or forehead lift.

It involves a single incision that extends from one ear to the other across the top of the forehead. It’s typically hidden along the hairline, so the scar isn’t visible. After making the incision, the surgeon gently lifts the skin and removes and repositions the underlying tissue and muscle to create a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance.

Lateral Brow Lift

Sometimes called a temporal brow lift, a lateral brow lift is less extensive than the other brow lift techniques.

It’s appropriate for people whose concerns are limited to the outer areas of the eyebrows, which often show the first signs of aging in the forehead area. Because it’s less invasive than the other techniques, the recovery is shorter after a lateral brow lift.

Combining a Brow Lift With Other Procedures

Patients often wonder if they should get a brow lift or upper eyelid surgery. In many cases, our surgeons may recommend combining a lateral brow lift with upper blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) if the skin of the brow significantly overhangs the upper eyelids. You may also want to consider a facelift for overall facial rejuvenation.

We will provide you with a personalized quote for your treatment plan. To make the procedure cost work for your budget and timeline, we offer several convenient and flexible financing options.

How Long Is Brow Lift Recovery?

Your recovery after a brow lift will depend on the technique used, but you should plan to take about 7 to 10 days off from work. All brow lift patients should avoid vigorous physical activity for several weeks and closely follow our surgeons’ detailed post-op instructions.
