Dr. Michelle Spring is a board-certified, aesthetic fellowship-trained plastic surgeon serving Kalispell and Whitefish, Montana.
She specializes in cosmetic plastic surgery and is renowned for her expertise in breast enhancement procedures, implant surgery, breast reductions and lifts, abdominoplasty surgery, and mommy makeovers.

Through her work with Eduplast in Nicaragua during her residency, her international fellowship with ReSurge, and continued international team trips as team leader and attending surgeon since the end of her training, Dr. Spring has taught (and learned from) many plastic surgeons abroad. This has been one of the most rewarding parts of her training and career.
She is grateful for the opportunity to work with such talented and selfless surgeons in low and middle-income countries, and help many people who otherwise would not have access to much-needed care. She has a true passion for making a difference in the lives of her patients and takes the time to get to know each patient on a personal level.
In her own words, Dr. Spring says:
“I focus on exceeding the expectations of my patients. I want the surgical experience to be wonderful from the first phone call or email until the last postoperative visit. We offer the safest, most cutting-edge treatments that yield results, not just hype. We have a team approach, and patients can feel it in our office. It's our thoughtful and caring staff, the attention to detail, our honesty, and the simple philosophy that we want patients to be happy and enjoy the experience."

Dr. Spring graduated with distinction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology. She then went on to medical school at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where she earned a coveted spot in the prestigious medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha.
After med school, Dr. Spring continued her training at the University of Wisconsin, completing both her internship and a 5-year integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery residency. Her skill and love of learning led her to the University of Southern California for an aesthetic fellowship through The Aesthetic Society. During this highly sought-after fellowship, Dr. Spring trained under renowned plastic surgeon Dr. W. Grant Stevens in Marina del Rey, California. She then took her expertise globally with ReSurge International (formerly Interplast). This one-year international fellowship focused on pediatric cleft and burn reconstruction. Dr. Spring is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. As such, she has continually demonstrated her surgical excellence and commitment to ongoing learning. She attended Harvard University as a Global Scholar of Surgical Leadership, completing its postgraduate medical education certification program.
Given her caliber of training, Dr. Spring is an accomplished plastic and reconstructive surgeon. She performs surgeries for the face, breast, and body but is particularly known for her breast enhancement results with procedures such as:
She is also one of only a few surgeons to offer the drainless tummy tuck. This advanced abdominoplasty technique uses progressive tension suturing to eliminate the need for postsurgical drains. Dr. Spring has published professional articles about this method and has performed it for over 15 years.

If it wasn’t already evident, Dr. Spring is a champion of lifelong learning! Her mother, a middle school special education teacher, instilled the value of education early on, and Dr. Spring has continued that commitment in her own professional life. In addition to co-owning Mountain West Plastic Surgery and Medical Spa, Dr. Spring is currently a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She helps teach medical students and surgery residents in the WWAMI program, their one-of-a-kind, multi-state medical education program.
Dr. Spring has also returned to two of her previous institutions in educator roles. As an adjunct clinical assistant professor of surgery at USC’s Keck School of Medicine, she taught plastic surgery residents and aesthetic surgery fellows; as a clinical instructor, she similarly trained the next generation of plastic surgeons at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Through her work with ReSurge, Dr. Spring has also taught plastic and reconstructive surgeons abroad. She has worked extensively with other medical professionals and members of the public, teaching both CPR and first aid through the American Red Cross and instructing and recertifying emergency medical technicians (EMTs) in basic and advanced skills prior to becoming a physician.

Dr. Spring has served on several committees for The Aesthetic Society and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, with an emphasis on product development and market research, patient safety, female plastic surgeons, and young plastic surgeons. She has been an invited speaker at meetings for both professional societies and advances knowledge in her field through published research (including several book chapters) and presentations. The prestigious industry publication Aesthetic Surgery Journal routinely seeks Dr. Spring’s expertise as a peer reviewer and editor for articles on breast procedures.
Dr. Spring’s expertise is also in demand as a medicolegal consultant for cosmetic surgery cases. As a legal medical expert, her focus is primarily on aesthetic breast surgery. Prior to starting Mountain West Plastic Surgery and Medical Spa, Dr. Spring spent several years at Logan Health (formerly Kalispell Regional Medical Center), holding the positions of plastic surgery medical director, Vice Chair of Surgery, and Chair of Surgery. She remains on active staff at Logan Health.
